Long Island's pool heater guys since 1981.

Since 1981, John's Service has answered the call as Long Island's premier pool heater specialist. By focusing our expertise exclusively on gas pool heaters instead of general pool service, our technicians diagnose issues faster and offer highly competitive pricing to our clients.

In 2021, we were purchased by Automated Pool Solutions, a premier local full-service pool company. This partnership allows our customers to easily access a wider range of backyard services through us, particularly cutting-edge smart pool technology. Even with this growth, John's Service retains its own dedicated team. We remain strictly focused on pool heaters, preserving the narrow specialization that built our reputation for the past forty years.

Common Questions

These are the questions we hear most often from homeowners trying to decide whether they need repair, replacement, or seasonal maintenance.

What does John's Service actually do?

John's Service focuses on gas pool heater repair, new gas heater installation, and a biannual maintenance program for fall shutdown and spring startup.

How much is the maintenance program?

The maintenance program is split into two visits: $109 for the fall shutdown and $109 for the spring startup.

What is included in the $109 fall shutdown?

The fall shutdown includes properly powering down the computer, adding antipest treatment, removing, storing, and refurbishing the burner tray where applicable, cleaning the main burner and chamber where applicable, and covering the exhaust flue.

What is included in the $109 spring startup?

The spring startup includes powering up the computer, cleaning the unit, reinstalling the burner tray where applicable, removing and evaluating the thermal regulating valve, and testing voltage and gas pressure. Thermal regulating valve replacement, when necessary, is extra.

Why do you recommend the maintenance program so strongly?

Because gas pool heaters are expensive and many avoidable failures start with poor shutdowns, dirty spring startups, pest intrusion, burner issues, or operating conditions that were never checked before the season began.

Do you repair heaters or only replace them?

We do both. If the heater is still worth repairing, we focus on diagnosing the real failure and restoring operation. If replacement is the more sensible path, we install a new gas heater system.

What kinds of issues do you check during repair work?

Repair work can involve diagnosing ignition problems, gas pressure issues, burner condition, computer faults, flow-related conditions, and thermal regulation problems, depending on how the heater is failing.

Do you work on general pool maintenance, construction, or landscaping?

No. John's Service is focused specifically on gas pool heater repair, installation, and the seasonal maintenance program for those heaters.
